From teacher, to titan.
In 2009, after a painful divorce, Nomfundo Mcoyi lost everything to her first husband. With nothing left but conviction, she resigned from her job as a teacher and started Icebolethu Funeral Group — a single, modest branch built on faith and grit.
Fifteen years later, that single branch has become 120+ branches across KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and one in London (UK), employing over 1 000 people and operating 22 mortuaries.
Icebolethu is more than a business. It is proof that a Black South African woman, starting from zero, can build a national institution rooted in service, dignity, and excellence.
